About Our Poker Chips
As the popularity of poker has grown rapidly over the last couple of years, so has the interest in poker chips.
To many players the kind of poker chips you are using has a big effect on the overall experience of playing poker.
This section is aimed at helping you decide what kind of poker chips best fits your needs.
Poker chips can be divided into three main categories:
  • Plastic chips
  • Plastic composite chips
  • Clay composite chips
At GamblersWarehouse.com you can find more poker chips than anywhere else.
Our chips range from 5 gram plastic chips to 15 gram clay chips, with plenty of selections available in between. As with all of our other products, shipping is included in the price for all of our poker chips.

Plastic Chips
As the name implies, plastic chips are made exclusively of plastic. We sell two different kind of plastic chips, 5 gram and 9 gram chips.
This can be compared to poker chips used in casinos that usually weigh between 9-10.5 grams.
All of our plastic chips come with an attractive diamond design.

The main reason to buy plastic chips is price. Chips made entirely of plastic, are simply the most inexpensive kind of poker chips.
The downside is that they neither have the attractive look nor the weight of more expensive chips.

It might be a good idea to buy plastic chips if you are on a tight budget. But should you decide to get serious about poker, you should upgrade to plastic composite or clay composite chips.

Plastic Composite Chips
Our plastic composite chips all weigh in at 11.5 grams but come in a wide variety of designs. These chips are primarily made of a high impact strength plastic called ABS, short for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene.
To enable hot stamping and add weight, a small piece of metal is inserted into our plastic composite chips.

There are three advantages to buying plastic composite chips, rather than clay composite chips. Plastic composite chips cost less, can display designs better, and are more durable than clay composite chips.

On the other hand, many players prefer clay chips because of their superior touch and feel. For example, plastic composite chips are difficult to stack because of their slippery surface.

Clay Composite Chips
Clay composite chips are more expensive than both plastic and plastic composite poker chips and according to most experienced poker players they are also much better. This is the kind of poker chips casinos all over the world use. Clay chips have a dull surface that makes them ideal for stacking and most players appreciate the “thud” sound that clay chips make when splashed against each other.

One thing to be aware of when buying clay chips is that the design on them can vary a little from chip to chip. The clay material sometimes spreads out the color. Clay chips are also not as durable as plastic composite chips.

At GamblersWarehouse.com we have a wide range of clay composite chips. We sell clay chips that weigh 9 grams, 13.5 grams, and 15 grams. Our 13.5 gram and 15 gram clay chips all have a small piece of metal inserted to them to add weight and allow for hot stamping. The 9 gram chips have no metal insert and consequently contain a higher percentage of actual clay than the heavier chips.

Please note that a 100 percent clay chip would be very unpractical. A pure clay chip would be extremely fragile and you would able to break it with your fingers.
